Grupo visita Barcelona presentando nuevo disco, Problems
El proximo Jueves recibiremos los The Get Up Kids en la ciudad Condal, uno de los grupos “peor” etiquetados de los últimos 20 años. El peor va entre comillas porque al final les ha servido de algo tantas etiquetas. Ya han sido Emo, Pop Punk, Indie Rock e ya para no tener que inventar algo más llegamos a la conclusión que el grupo es de Rock Alternativo y damos las gracias por eso, ya tocaba un reconocimiento solido y definitivo.
Para tener una idea, gran parte de su publico les dio por conocer al grupo mirando videos de BMX, los de Props mas concretamente. Cuando todavia eran unos desconocidos mondo afuera, los videos de la marca mencionada que, para aquel momento eran superproducciones, contaban con una variada banda sonora, de allí muchos tomaron conocimiento de la existencia de grupos como Snapcase, The Jealous Sound, The Sea and Cake, Superchunk, Paris Texas, Archers Of Loaf, Fugazi o Hot Water Music.
Es de considerar que hace 20 años no teníamos la tecnologia con tanto alcance de los dias actuales donde podemos escuchar a estos grupos directamente en nuestros mobiles, por aquel entonces los videos de BMX (entre otros deportes de acción) eran nuestros guias en busca de novedades.
Pues de allí salió el The Get Up Kids y su larga discografía que, entre EPs y LPs, puede llegar a una docena ya incluyendo el recién publicado Problems, motivo oficial de la actual gira. Un disco que define a la perfección el sonido del grupo, melodia fuzz, bajo con escalas marcantes, teclados de fondo en alguna que otra ocasión y la inconfundible voz de Matthew Pryon. Ojo! Tenemos esa semana una gran oportunidad de verlos en directo, un grupo que no pasa por aqui con tanta frecuencia y que posiblemente tocarán algunos de sus ya considerados clásicos como “Ten Minutes”, “Action Action” y “Don’t Hate Me”.

Next Thursday we will receive The Get Up Kids in Barcelona, one of the "worst" tagged bands in the last 20 years. The worst goes in quotes because, in the end, it has served as something positive. They have already been Emo, Pop Punk, Indie Rock and now we came to the conclusion that the group is definitively an Alternative Rock band and we thank for that, it was about time to have a solid and definitive recognition.
To have an idea, a large part of their audience got to know the group watching BMX videos in the '90s, those of Props more specifically. When they were still unknown to the outside world, the videos of the aforementioned brand that, at that time were blockbusters, had a varied soundtrack, from there many took notice of the existence of groups such as Snapcase, The Jealous Sound, The Sea and Cake , Superchunk, Paris Texas, Archers Of Loaf, Fugazi or Hot Water Music. Considering that 20 years ago we did not have the technology with so much scope of the current days where we can listen to these groups directly in our mobiles, at that time the videos of BMX (among other action sports) were our guides in search of novelties.
Well, from there came The Get Up Kids and its long discography that, between EPs and LPs, can reach a dozen already including the just-released Problems, the official reason for the current tour. A record that perfectly defines the sound of the group, melodic fuzz, bass with marking scales, keyboards and the unmistakable voice of Matthew Pryon. Caution! We have that week a great opportunity to see them live, a group that does not pass through here so often and that they will probably play some of their already considered classics like "Ten Minutes", "Action Action" and "Do not Hate Me".
